action-drama

Gavlas, Devon - WoW

Seppuku is the ancient art of killing yourself if you get super pissed and can't find anybody else to kill. Not to be confused with Bukakke

Or maybe drama-action.

Seriously, I would say it is a horror movie which critisises the corrosion of modern societies.Something like Romero's Dead Trilogy.

Well when u see a student decapitating his classmate with a Katana and then shooting others with darts...I know it's not like the horror movies as we know them, but this is as close to a horror movie as we will be able to watch in the future. No more Romero,Argento etc horror movies. This is the new age of this kind of cinema.Of course the asian film industry has produced way more brutal movies, I guess the future is going to show...

Well I thnk I 'm using the wrong word, I know it's not horror, but it's not splatter too.I don't think it's gore, and u sure can;t call it just a thriller.I can't find a proper word right now, but u are right it's not exactly horror, as we know it today.(btw horror is vary general, it includes splatter/gore movies).

to me horror is seeing a guy walk at night and suddenly, out of nowhere a madman with an axe appears. Then the screen goes blank.

Splatter on the other hand, is when the movie goes red

Ah, that brings the '/' into the equation. You can have a horror/gore movie too. The aforementioned madman jumps out of nowhere and scares the audience (horror), then proceeds to axe the victim's head filling the screen with brain matter (gore), in the process he a severed eye because of the axe's banging and pressure, pops and flies right into the madman's mouth. He chokes on it and dies (humor). Then the movie focuses on the relatives of the victim that are mourning (drama). Later we find out that an alien race, infected an abucted victim with a virus that made him into the madman we saw earlier (sci-fi).

If you missed the references these were
2 'night of the creeps' referenfes
1 'evil dead 2' reference

Yeye, but I don't think Evil Dead and Night of the creeps in the same ctegory with Battle Royale.I mean, u should watch Alexandro Jodorowsky's El Topo. You will see humor, irony,a woman licking the wounds that she caused on another womans body etc.But this movie isn't a thriller nor a horror movie,a comedy ... Some movies just can't be categorised easily. But battle royale sure isn't just gore, it isn't a  normal horror movie too,it's not drama, action is not an option too.We have to find a proper category for battle royale to fit in.It's a stoic dilemma.
