I think the director himself has a history of complete and utter crappiness. He's made video game cinematics and is trying to expand into 90-minute long flicks or something.

what are you talking about. he has made many video game movies. all of which suck. he never did cinematics though
he is german, uwe boul or something. he made house of the dead, alone in the dark, bloodyrayne.
what's amazing is how he finds such good actors. check out the cast for dungeon siege.

one reason why he still gets budget for the movies, is that this is a way for his investors in germany to exploit a plothole, where they get a tax reduction, no matter how the film fares
