Battle Royale Manga
« on: May 01, 2006, 09:09:31 PM »
I just started reading this, i have volumes 1-5 and im getting 6-8 on saturday (theres about 13), it differs alot from the film, but the basic plot is still there, except kiriyama (the guy who joined for fun in the film) is an actual student who is the son of a mafia boss or somthing. Also, there are alot of weird irrelevent side stories, like mitsuku getting boned by a wrestler.

Was this created before or after the movie?

When the only tool you've got is a shotgun, all your problems start looking a lot like zombies.

Also, the cake is a lie!

Yeah, there good, but it seems the movie swayed from the story.

And the film owned, i dont know what makes it so damn good.

The film had some flaws (like the part where they kill the teacher at the end, and all of a sudden he stands up to answer the phone. I mean wtf???!!).

But I liked the idea, it was really a "brutal" thing to put inexperienced students in the field of battle and let them find their own way to survival. I've always thought "What would I do?" in order to survive there.

The second part gave more "meaning" and a purpose to all this killing. It wasn't as successfull as the first one (I guess because now they all had Spec Ops equipment and it kinda "removed" the fun from it). Also I think it tried to give a more "The Wall" (movie by Pink Floyd) meaning to the whole movie ("Hey! Teacher, leave the kids alone")

That ruined the movie kinda for me.

It was kinda ridiculous.

Hello? The guy is dead Mr.Director. He can't just stand up (with not even any signs of pain or struggle) sit on the couch and start chatting on the phone like nothing happened!

What was moving though, was that this guy "worked" with children but his daughter treated him like shit for no reason (even though he was really nice to her etc.)
